  2. Why do some Minecraft seeds have names? I mean, I understand the idea of seeds, and that when particularly interesting worlds get generated by random the discoverer would want to share the number with others, but are the named seeds created by the Minecraft developers, or what?

  3. the words are actually converted into unicode so tenically the words are just short cuts for a bunch of numbers

    When creating a world you get the option of filling in a seed. This can be anything, from numbers, letters, etc.
    This seed/code is used by the game to create the semi-random world.
    The fact that these seeds have names, mean that SOMEONE tried the seed/code 'Quesadila' and got the world we see. Other simply filled in no seed, after which they posted their world here. Filling in nothing when a seed is requested will cause the game to pick a seed based on your PC's clock. So for example, my seed when creating a random level at this moment would be 221836 as it is currently 22:18:36 here.

  7. @creeeper
    Press F3 while playing. You can also use it to see animals and monsters close by, as they will all have a number floating over their head.

  8. @Bill
    The coordinates, as stated in the post, are (x=-8, z=30)
    Press F3 in game to see your current coordinates. X and Z indicate North and East, Y indicates depth.

  10. found a third dungeon right where the other two are!
    x=-3
    y=46
    z=45

  11. Bill, you need to go to X= -8. That's "minus" 8. Going to X= 8 means you went the wrong direction.

  17. This seed is brilliant! There are three dungeons, one of each mob possible right near each other, and if you build your house there, you can build a wicked mob grinder! I started this game yesterday, and only played for two hours. I already have three stacks of bones, two stacks of arrows, a stack and a half of string, and four stacks of feathers!

    mine out the gravel in the corner (far left)

    this opens up a series of interconnected caverns;
    haven't finished exploring- but already used 4 full stacks or torches.

  38. Scratch that- I put a torch down and it is tiny- smaller than the dungeon itself.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Entrance to large cavern at:
    X: 0
    Y: 39
    Z: 43

    Just near the entrance there are large amounts of coal and iron.

    HUGE amount of natural obsidian if you don't want to go to the work of farming it:
    x: 122
    y: 12
    z: 53

    You are in a huge cavern with massive amounts of gold, I was able to make my minecart rails completely powered ones with rails to spare.

    ReplyDelete
  47. none of the seeds on this site work on my minecraft. i go to the location and all but the things just arent there. do i need a special mod?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ben, you don't need a special mod. You probably didn't enter it right or didn't go to the correct coordinates; remember that there are positive (i.e. X: 100) and negative (i.e. X: -100) and make sure you are matching the X, Y, and Z coordinates correctly.

    But the real purpose of this post is...

    8 DIAMONDS!
    X: 28
    Y: 12
    Z: -10

    ReplyDelete
  49. There's an above ground lava lake not far from the spawn at X- 185 Y- 71.6 Z- -94. Does anyone know where I can find some sugarcane/reeds? Even just a little will do.
